Why I Choose to Educate, Not Dictate

When I first started working in wellness, I thought people wanted the answers: the “do this, don’t do that” kind of advice. And in a way, they did. Clients would come in and say things like, “Just tell me what to do and I’ll follow it.”

For a little while, it worked. They would go home, follow the meal plan or try the daily routine I suggested. But eventually, I started to notice a pattern—the changes didn’t last. They would slip back into old habits, or come back feeling frustrated that nothing had really shifted.

That’s when I realized something important: when you don’t understand why you’re doing something, it’s almost impossible to stick with it.

It’s the difference between brushing your teeth because someone told you to, versus brushing because you understand how it keeps your mouth healthy and prevents pain. One feels like a rule; the other feels like self-care.

What I’ve Learned Through My Clients

Over the years, I’ve seen both sides. The clients who simply wanted instructions often struggled. They were waiting for someone outside of themselves to tell them what was “right.” But the ones who wanted to learn—who asked questions, who were curious about how their body and mind worked—those were the clients who flourished.

When they understood how digestion, sleep, emotions, and energy were connected, everything clicked. Suddenly, drinking warm water in the morning wasn’t just a “thing Chandra told me to do.” It became a choice rooted in understanding: “I’m doing this because it supports my digestion and energy.”

That kind of learning sticks. It grows into habits that feel natural, not forced.

Why Skylit Focuses on Education

This is why my mission through Skylit Ayurveda is to educate, not dictate. I don’t want to be another voice in your life handing you a list of rules. I want to help you understand yourself.

Because when you learn how your body, your mind, and your energy really work, you stop relying on outside instructions. You start making choices that feel good and aligned for you. You become your own healer in so many ways.

My role isn’t to stand above you and tell you what to do. It’s to stand beside you and guide you, to share tools, wisdom, and practices that you can use in your own way.

At the heart of Ayurveda—and of all healing—is self-knowledge. And that’s what I want to give you. Not rules, not “quick fixes,” but understanding.

Because when you know yourself, when you understand the why behind your choices, caring for your health doesn’t feel like a burden. It feels like freedom.

And that’s what Skylit is here for: helping you create lasting change by turning knowledge into empowerment.

With love,

Chandrvati
